The Ferndale Volunteer Fire Department relies on a variety of revenue sources to purchase and maintain firefighting apparatus and equipment.
Our district trustees create an annual budget based on tax revenues collected on properties in the Ferndale Fire District. In fiscal year 2005 this was 8.08 mill levy in Flathead County and 8.09 mill levy in Lake County.
We hold one fundraiser each year, our annual BBQ with silent auction. On the third Saturday of July we invite everyone to the firehouse for a bison burger BBQ. Many local businesses donate a wide variety of goods and services to be auctioned off during the BBQ.
Federal grants and Flathead Electric Roundup for Safety grants have both helped purchase equipment. Some items purchased with grants are wildland firefighting protective gear and a complement of Hurst "Jaws of Life" rescue tools.
Consider adding your local volunteer fire district into your estate planning.
Both monetary and in-kind donations are always welcomed.
